The Results are in..... Polar Animal Study

The results are in!  This week the students voted for their favorite polar animals of the Arctic and their favorite polar animals of the Antarctic.

For the Arctic, the students chose...
Narwhals
Lynxes

For the Antarctic, the students chose...
Penguins

Leopard Seals
The students then chose the animal they wanted to study.  They signed up with their classmates.

By the end of the week, students met and planned with their respective groups.  We asked ourselves three questions:  (1) What do we want to know about our animal;  (2) How are we going to document our learning; and  (3) How are we going to share our learning?  For the next few weeks we will begin doing some in-depth research on these animals.

Lately we have been taking a closer look at the globe.
Students have  been sketching the globes and finding the 7 continents.

I also introduced a new world floor puzzle this week.  It has the continents on it as well as animals that live on or around the continents.  Students were very excited to work this new puzzle.

We look forward to sharing our project work with you!
Mark your calendars...
We will be having a Polar Animal Museum open house Friday, February 28th from 8:15-9:00am.
Have a great week!
Mrs. Julie Atkin
