Self-Portraits- Part 2

As promised, I would like to share the final product of your child's self-portraits.  We used liquid watercolor to make several different shades to match the students skin tone.  They looked at themselves in the mirror to choose the appropriate color for themselves. The students then used watercolor paints to paint their facial features.

When all of our paintings were completed the students came to the conclusion that they wanted to share their work in the hall for others to observe.  There was just one small problem...the students names were on the back of their paintings.  They said they needed to label their work somehow, so each student wrote their name clearly on a note card.  We then invited the students to help us make the bulletin board display.  We want our students to be involved in every aspect of sharing their work.  They each took several breaks throughout the day to help paint the background.  We all got a little dirty but had so much fun sponge painting the paper!

Here is the final product as a whole!  Take an up close look at everyone's work.  We are so proud and amazed at the students artistic skills.  Enjoy!
