Also this week, we completed making a space shuttle. The students painted an American flag, "NASA," and "U.S.A." on the wings of the shuttle.
Here's a look at the completed shuttle.
On Thursday we also had our transportation open house. The students prepared two pieces of writing for the open house. Students made a mode of transportation by themselves or with a small group of friends. Each student wrote about their mode of transportation and also wrote about maps. The students jobs during their transportation open house included reading about their mode of transportation and writing about their transportation sculpture. They also displayed their book about maps, and showed the map of the ECC playground that currently is in the hallway.
The students also shared their work with Mrs. Gores class.
This week we also noticed that a few onions as well as some ettuce was ready to be harvested. The preschoolers are all finished with school so their teachers allowed us to harvest some of their spinach as well! Our carrot plants, pepper plants, more onion plants, and potato plants are continuing to thrive.
The students cleaned the plants thoroughly so they could be
prepared for salad and homemade onion dip.
The students cut the onions in small pieces with plastic butter knives.
We opened the sour cream and emptied it into a large bowl.
We added the green onions, garlic powder, dried onions, and a dash of salt.
We also had ranch dressing with our salad.
We had carrots with our onion dip as well as some chips.
By the end almost all their plates looked like this!
All the students agreed that this was a great end to our week.
I am in complete amazement that next week is our last week of school. This week we have field day as well as our kindergarten movie and awards. I hope to see everyone June 6th, at 1:30PM.
Have a fantastic week!
Mrs. Julie Atkin
