Polar Region/Animal Open House & Project Presentations

Friday was our Polar Region/Animal Open House.  On Thursday, the students worked hard to get our classroom clean, prepared, and set up for our visitors.  Below you can see some photos of how our classroom was all set up!

Books for families to read.
We had over 20 families represented at our open house.  It was a HUGE success.  Thank you for taking the time to get involved in your child's education.
As part of our project plan, students said they wanted to share their learning with other kindergarten classes from our school.  I emailed the classroom teachers and we ended up having 6 kindergarten classes that could visit to learn about the polar regions and their animals.  Each group of students got up and presented their project.  When our friends were done presenting, the visiting kindergarten students had the opportunity to walk around our classroom to observe the students animals and habitats.  Our friends then had the opportunity to read their Eric Carle book and their non-fiction book to the other students from other classes.

Leopard Seals reading their BIG book.

Below you will see the students sharing their books and projects with the students from other kindergarten classrooms.
The students did a great job listening and speaking during their presentations.  It took some time for them all to get their voices loud enough but we got there!  It was great practice for future projects!  We look forward to choosing a new project & study.  Check back later to see what we are up to in kindergarten!
Have a great week and stay warm!
