We've got Engineers!

Did you know that PVC pipes can keep kids minds, muscles, and imaginations running for hours? Earlier this week a fellow teacher asked me if I had a use for PVC pipes, and said that she used to use them in the classroom.  After further discussion I thought they would be a lot of fun as part of our "Here We Grow Discovery Garden" experiences. She put them in a bucket and left them just inside the playground doors.

On Thursday several students showed interest, but because this was the first day with all 28 students, they weren't able to explore and build.  On Friday, however, there was even more interest so I said "let's try it." You will be blown away (as I was) at the students engineering skills. The  children immediately became a team and began working together on their "engineering project".
