NEW WORK STATIONS and GLOBAL READ ALOUD

A FEW NEW WORK STATIONS!

This week we added a few new work stations.  In the sorting station we began sorting and separating coins.  We have been looking at the similarities and differences between their shape, size, color, and width.

We started working with the "Base 10" frame.  This is a great way for students  to read and recognize numbers, as well as learning  pre-addition skills for the future.

We also introduced a shape activity where the students use foam dough to trace shapes.  When the shape is made, the students use their reading pointer finger to read the shape three times before making another shape.

With pattern blocks, students are now following a given pattern to create numbers.

Lastly, I used paint sticks donated by our local Meijer and added dots to them.  The students then matched a numbered clothes pin to the appropriate paint stick.

I look forward to what this upcoming week brings to kindergarten..

GLOBAL READ ALOUD

This week we will be starting "The Global Read Aloud" reading the book Charlotte's Web.    Classrooms and children from all over the world will be reading the same book at the same time!  VERY EXCITING!

Visit this website to learn more about the program!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Take care and have an amazing week.
