This week, as you all know, we had our Thanksgiving Feast. One of the many things we needed to do was make center pieces. We started with a box of pine cones, sweet gumball tree seeds, and a rectangular piece of foam. The students then started designing their centerpieces.
Towards the end of our designing, Ms. Michelle walked in the classroom and to our surprise, she had a whole box of fall flowers and other great things to add to our centerpieces.
Take a look at them completed and on the tables at our feast.

I thought it would be nice to bring some of the work the students had been working on. The pumpkins are from our class along with the "We Are Thankful" anchor chart. Mrs. Gore's friends made some other things that we displayed as well.
Before we began eating, the students sang and signed the song "Thank You".
"Thank you for the friends we meet."
"Thank you for the food we eat."
"Thank you for our work and play. Thank you for this happy day."
After the students sang their song, they were instructed to tell two people something they were thankful for. This past week we had many discussions on what it means to be thankful and the difference between needs and wants. At first the students thought things like paper, pencils, and other school materials were needs in order to survive. But, by the time we finished we learned that it's always nice to have those materials but we can indeed survive without them.

A big THANK YOU to all that brought yummy food for our feast!
Blake's family and Ian's family enjoying the feast. You can see Dr. Clifford (Superintendent of West Carrollton Schools) in the background was even able to make it to our feast!
Friends of Mrs. Gores enjoyed the feast too!
Dana and her mom!
These little ladies enjoyed each others friendship at our feast!

Thank you all for attending our Friendship Feast.
It wouldn't have been a success without all of you that participated.
THANKS!

Tuesday, we had another friendship feast with ALL the students in both our classroom and Mrs. Gore's classroom. To kick off the feast, Mrs. Gores friends acted out the very first Thanksgiving.
Enjoy the photos!
We used the same center pieces, and enjoyed meeting and talking with new friends.
Again, we shared what we are thankful for. We had a lot of Turkey from our Monday night feast and we also had veggies, fruit, popcorn, and plenty of desserts.
As promised... I told you I would share a picture of the students art displayed in the hallway.
I hope you all made wonderful memories with friends and family this Thanksgiving.
Have a beautiful week!
Mrs. Atkin
